New pattern – The little box hat

Posted on

Hi there, thank you for checking out my blog!
It’s middle of summer here in Australia and even though it was over 40 degrees yesterday, I still knit, of course!

This is actually my first original pattern that I created.I designed this beanie for my daughter (she was about 15 month old at that point.) and made one for her. I shared a photo on Instagram and received some nice comments, so I decided to make other sizes.

I knitted a newborn size for my baby girl and she was wearing it when we were discharged from the hospital. Both of my daughters wore them when we went to snow trip last September.

I knitted them with WOOLganic Australian Merino wool, and Luxury, Milky Way, and Alpaca from Bendigo Woollen Mills. They all came out very soft and warm.

Some people are allergic to sheep wool so it’s sometimes difficult to decide which yarn to use. When I knit something for friends’ babies and kids, I tend to use alpaca wool instead, unless I’m sure that they are not allergic to sheep wool. I’m not a big fan of acrylic yarn, especially they are not suitable for beanies… that’s what I think but I might be wrong.

Anyway, this pattern is very simple and if you can knit and purl in the round, you can make the beanie!

You can purchase this pattern from SHOP page or here on Ravelry.

At this moment available only in English, but Japanese version is coming soon!

Happy knitting!
